La galaxie du Triangle, également connue sous le nom de M33, est une galaxie spirale de type Sc II-III, située dans la constellation du Triangle. Elle fait partie du Groupe local dont elle est le troisième représentant le plus massif, après la Galaxie d'Andromède (M31) et notre Galaxie. Elle est cependant très significativement moins massive que ces deux dernières, sa masse et sa taille étant plus comparable à celles du Grand Nuage de Magellan. Elle est située à relative proximité de la Galaxie d'Andromède, avec laquelle elle ne semble cependant pas gravitationnellement liée. Vue sous une inclinaison nettement plus grande que sa voisine M31, elle est de fait un laboratoire idéal pour l'étude des galaxies spirales. The galaxy of the Triangle, also known as M33, is a galaxy spiral of type Sc II - III, located in the constellation of the Triangle. She is part of the local Group the most massive third representative of which she is, after the Galaxy of Andromède (M31) and our Galaxy. She is however very significantly less massive than these two last, her mass and her size being more comparable to those of the Big Cloud of Magellan. She is located in relating nearness of the Galaxy of Andromède, with which she however does not seem gravitationnellement linked. Having seen under an incline distinctly bigger than her neighbour M31, she is indeed an ideal laboratory for the study of galaxies spirals.
