That is a fantastic modeling and texturing job. Superb job.Odd varieties of Orthoptera (grasshoppers) and Mantodea (mantids) kind of 'freak me out'. The seven inch long grasshoppers we disected in bio class last semester got me too.If you modelled the above on your own from scratch, and would like to continue with a second insect project, you might think about looking up some of the tropical varieties of mantids for inspiration.

I absolutely LOVE the angle in which you choose to draw the insect, and I love how real it looks. It's almost like you took a picture from a tropical jungle. The out of focus background helps to make it appear photorealistic. Great Work!

Looks like some kind of Dragon-Mantis-Scorpion.... Just make the back part of his tail hinge up like a scorpion and shoot some kind of highly acidic smoking venom..... Hehee
