Description
Again a study on skin, light and cloth in DAZStudio3 Advanced.
Big size, click to see the details.
I used the UberEnvironment2 with a custom HDR map set to directional shadows and colored AO.
There is only one distant light set to specular only.
UberSurface applied to all cloth and also on the hair with anisotropic.
PWSurface is used on the skin with SSS effect.
The final image on the top is composed of the straight render from DS3 (bottom left, render time: 24h 52mn at 2000x2000px) and an additional AO pass made with PWsurface (bottom right, render time: 2h 16mn at the same size).
I just added a slight blur and noise with DOFPro in Photoshop, nothing more :)
A tip concerning the AO pass:
as UberEnvironment already use AO (directional AO that is less precise than traditional AO), i made the additional AO pass rather weak in effect. That means no black AO. And as the AO for this pass is set up in the materials, i colored them with the diffuse maps of each items!
If you look closely at the AO pass, you'll see the all items are slightly colored. It may seams unsignificant, but when you add the AO pass in Photoshop, you see it adds to the effect.

Great work vince. I love it. I will read the tech details again and try to understand since me want to learn like you know. Compliments

This is very good. The textures are so realistic, this could be taken for a photograph. I do not understand most of your acronymns like AO, SSS and PWSurface. I only know what HDR is. But for such good renders, I ought to find out.
vincebagna
Thank you :) AO stands for Ambient Occlusion (soft shadows where surfaces are occluded by nearest surfaces), SSS is SubSurface Scattering (light going through skin), and PWSurface is a shader plugin for DS available on DAZ site :)

Gorgeous image

This is excellent work and I'm glad to see a demonstration of the added lighting controls of DS3A. Critically, I'm not so sure the added AO pass gained anything worthwhile, YMMV.

Sweet render, I love the lighting and skin texture.

great skin tones

nice work.. looks very cool!! did you apply the coloured AO to the first straight render as well?? or is that just the AO from uberenvironment?

yeah, you weren't kidding about details. Amazing. The cloth especially.

Interesting!

The straight render has AO only from UE. Though the UE AO is not black, i set it up to a dark brown tone.

Nice result, very realistic skin!

Great and realistic render, I couldn't believe this was V3, the textures and shaders of the skin, the hair and the clothes are great, the AO gives a lot of realistic depth to the render (25 hours, wow! you must have a lot of patience). The only comment I have is on the eyes, somehow they seem a bit troubled, but it looks like Jpeg-artifacts caused by compression. Anyhow amazingly good!

This is an amazing realistic render. The details in the clothing and skin color and textures are great. Since you are so detailed, I want to add that I believe the small weakness in this image is in the eyes. Compared with the rest of the face they are too bright...May be toning down the white or the reflection... Again, this is just a detail in an amazing image!

I know the terminology, and have used several techniques you've put in here...though I had NO clue about SSS being used in D|S3A until now. XD THANK YOU. I could hug you. Grin
