Description

this to me represents the troops from all our countries in Iraq and Afghanistan ( other places as well but mostly there) .....waiting and not seeing the unknown that may happen............ this was taken last year at our annual Canadian National Exhibition thats held in Aug to Sept 3 ... our armed forces had a huge display of planes tanks armour & everything that they use ... I saw this soldier just sitting there ...I often wondered what he was thinking about ..... they all talked about life over there and seemed so very proud .... by the time I left I had tears over these very young guys and girls that go there and not knowing what will happen to them and I was thinking how awful war is ...not that I dont always anyway but to see them made it even worse I added the effects to make it look like maybe it was there and the lighted sky to be going into the unknown The flag .. VRI Royal Canadian Regiment

Very moving photo, Lu. Especially since you have explained how and why you added the special effects to it.

Fantastic image! I watched a movie last night called "Taking Chance" which brought tears to my eyes. It's based on a true story about a officer in the marines who escorted the remains of a fellow soldier back to his parents. Very touching story as is your image. :)

Very moving. Because of my past work in aerospace I often came in contact with young military men and women. There is a reason they are often called the 'best and brightest'. I hope this young man is somewhere safe tonight.

Very, very moving image and narrative Lu! Yes, war is a horrible thing and what saddens me most, is the fact that so many could have been avoided! Ego and hardheadedness has caused so many wars - not only between countries, but between individuals in relationships and in families... Really sad indeed!

A wonderful photograph Lu! and you have with your post-work given a dedication to the fine young men and women that serve abroad protecting our shorelines. Excellent.

Well shot and very thought provoking. I am always so sad when I see so many young people seeing such awful things though each and every one so proud to be part of a service
