Comment for antzpantz, "What is wrong with barns & livestock? Love the old barn, shows me parts of the countryside & most probably won't visit. The frame & the colouring set it off beautifully.

anyone who yawns at your creative shots and postwork probably falls asleep while touring the louvre... i know, i know, everyone's entitled to their opinion, but i couldn't let that one go without saying my piece. i think it's a grand capture and imaginative treatment of a classic example of americana - you just keep up the awesome work, hon - you rock, and so does your choice of subject matter! xo

well first, Lynell, I truly hope that your time of mourning & sharing with family was deep & heartful, and I hope you're doing better now. I know it was a long couple of years, and I'm sorry for all the loss you've been through. (I dropped a few sitemails, but I know how busy & hard it is to keep up with anything when you go through this, so let me just say it here.) Also, I didn't comment while you were gone because I figured you'd get a million ebots, and I didn't want to add to them. That was the only reason. So here I am back in your gallery & hoping this finds you & your loved ones well. Lovely comment from michael, I remember some controversy about this piece, or that someone wasn't too nice about it...well if you want to know my opinion, the little bits of color are fine; but you know what? I wouldn't mind it all in b&w. Not that the color's a problem—it isn't, it's fine. Just that the b&w can be so imposing. You have to know that the detail here, and the impact of all those vertical slats on the barn & silo, is powerful & has real beauty. And your pov gives this wall an imposing stature, as we see its sheer 'sameness' and it's many lines; it's like a big statement. The railing upfront is wonderful in those grays. A fine shot, and it has a touch of monumentality. It's nice that you see barns in so many different ways, from melancholy to ragged to playful to delicate and, in this case, to monumental. I really like this shot! And the little tufts of grass at bottom are all it needs for 'garnish'. (Little sprigs of barn parsley!) Real power lurking here. It's an imposing structure!
