I don't know what the name is of this animal. But this little guy was clearly enjoying his "zoo life" happily eating his food.

Could be a prairie dog or perhaps a gopher. Hard to tell without size comparison and environment...or a look at the tail. Someone better versed might know for sure though. Great detailed portrait.

Yup. That's a Black-tailed Prairie Dog (Cynomys Ludovicanus). He's a very persecuted native species here in Colorado. What zoo was this taken at? How many prairie dogs are living there? They are cute, ain't they? And they make good pets.
