Description

I was left a comment I wasn't sure on so I wrote and asked about it and they gave me their advice, what they thought might improve my photo, here is part of what he wrote back to me I was just talking about the coloring. I liked the coloring approach in that image. However, by coloring only a corner, my eyes were directed there instead of the barn. I think that by adding additional color touches around the image, the observation experience will improve... so Osvaldo this is for you, with my thanks. I hope this version is a bit better, see it does pay to give constructive criticism, and not just leave rude remarks. And in reference to my comment yesterday to receiving a yawn to my work, please know I am all for anyone suggesting a way to improve my work, and I have left plenty of suggestions on others work, so feel free to to suggest, critique, advise, offer techniques. I can take it. lol Osvaldo's gallery Here is a comment I loved.... it gave me a smile, You are the barn paparazzi!!! GREAT stuff Lynell!!! David yes David I guess I am guilty of that LOL Previous Barn thumb_1923986.jpg

Excelent close up. How different we are. I almost 'ignore' a barrel. The size of the barn overpower everything for me and I do like it this way...lol.

Lol, barn and cow paparazzi! Thats a good one! Good on you for writing and getting a reply! The one time I tried that they just ignored me:-) I just think the image is awesome either way, a matter of taste I suppose. Bravo Lynell!!!

Rude remarks? On Renderosity? Unheard of! At least my conscience is clear. Splendid POV, detail, and capital use of selective coloring in this barn reprise, Lynell!

Lynell, I am flattered that you decided to follow on my comment. I do like this version better. It is like a negative colorization, where the B&W is the main subject. Very original approach. My comment was just to help you explore some compositional elements… It was just an opinion. The final decision on your art has to be always yours since it reflects you… I certainly hope that you are also satisfied with this version.

This is definitely an inprovement but I still like the original. Strike me for that, but it's true. :-) This is excellent and fills the senses as well as the shot.

I agree the blue sky adds a lot to this image. Glad you asked him what he meant. The sky and the barn had almost the same value of gray.

Well...I guess I concur with the general concensus that this one is better, but I liked them both. As far as barns and livestock not being interesting, he/she/it has obviously not been paying attention. You've got terrific and interesting photos of both! Great work!

you should leave well enough alone the first one was cool and you you should never go changing things, you are the artist, keep it that way.

nice way to handle the matter in your description, and nice that you posted a different version. (I'm all for different versions, it's what art is all about.) This is a full color version, and it has a softer feel to it, and the sky's full-blue adds a gentle depth to the starkness of this wall. A very nice shot in its original 'clothes' (lol). But solid b&w is a great medium too, given that so much photography of the 20th C was b&w, and many photographers continued doing b&w even after color became common. The massivity of this wall & the monolithic surge of its vertical works as well in color or b&w, so I hope you don't feel that the color replaces the b&w. I'm in favor of both. As for being a barn paparazzi (paparazz'o'? paparraz-ette, lol?), I think you have to hound them and drive them crazy to qualify! I think what you are is a "barn aficionado" (which comes from the same root as "affectionate"). Though "Barn Stalker" has a nice ring to it, lol...
