Description

This is great! I won the Match Game and got the school uniform with the prize money. I always have problems with night scenes. What do you guys think? (What I really need is more money)

The overall concept is good I like the one crouching angaisnt the wall but the other one seems a bit robotic in it's pose unless it is suppose to ba a Terminator! What you need is more light. oputside night is hardly ever devoid of all light there is the moon there are street lights there are cars passing by there are house lights! this looks flat because there are no shadows and variation of light and shadow fro the viwer to see all it is monochromatic check out some real pictures that are taking place at night and see how the one that look real still have light and shadow in them that is what builds the drama. Another way you can do it is how the Hollywood movies do it. Film in daylight and darken the scene in post porcess which gives you more control of the lighting! If you want to learn I rework this with more lights and try to use a prop like a street light shining down and giveing off shadows maybe the one who is holding the gun her shadow can be what the other girl can see behind the corner. good luck!

I like the characters and poses. There is a sense of tension and action. With the bright background, it looks like the foreground is in deep shadow, not night. Consider darkening the background. Also, something to try is to have one hard light overhead and let everything else fall into shadow, if not blackness. As long as there are more deep dark areas than light ones, it will seem more like night, I think. Remember what they say in photo class: aim for a full range of tones, even if the light areas just enough to show the shapes...

This is an action-packed scene with interesting outfits and an implied fast-paced story line. A few tweaks and the image can really be quite compelling. Do you have this scene saved as a pz3? Could you tell us what lights you are using? It would be fun to try different lighting to see if more focus can be placed on your key figures.
