Hi Guys...
I'm RGUS, a 3D artist from New Zealand hence the Kiwi Avatar.
I've been using Poser since 2004 and recently begun to use DAZ Studio.
Originally I used the render engines bundled with the base software and it was not until Octane was available did I change engines. I believe iRAY, now supplied with DAZ Studio, does a very good job. However, my development has stayed with Octane since I use both Poser and Studio with Octane for each as the main render engine.
Enjoy!

Is P8 worth the price? Still not sure nice experiment thanks

Buyers remorse, understandable- but give it a shot for more than two days before you totally make up your mind! Geez! But- really the funny thing we will laugh about are the folks who glossed over any of the commentary (non-english speaking folks are of course exempt from this) and said "Great Work" not realizing that you posted a comparison. Try some different lighting, maybe one light, a dark room- lets see what Global Illumination means to Smith Micro. I am curious.

Great test!!!!!

She looks lovely ;) But I agree. The P8 one does look washed out. Looks like Ill be in the undecided camp on upgrading for awhile yet lol

Wow leave it you to drop a bomb shell that there are secret lights somewhere in poser. I have poser 5,6,7 and pro. I will have to look for those hidden lights, are they what you have been useing in the past? Was that the secret to your great looking renders? I know the other 90% is talent, but if I could get 10% better that would be great.

Yes your damned right! The new version 8 is not the best. Thanks for the comparison.

The leftside image appeals to me the most. Poser Pro is my program of choice. The contrast and shadows are the most realistic. Preference of course is individual. So far from what I have seen, I will save my money and hold off on the Poser 8 move, and stay with my Poser Pro. Another thing, I paid allot more for my Poser Pro 7, than the list for the new Poser 8. I want to support the program and platform, but really how great can this new version be? I suspect this is just another revenue booster, kinda like new versions of windows!

Very lovely! I agree with most...I like the one on the left best. The P8 one does look washed out.

Very interesting - beautiful character too! Not much to choose between 1 and 2, but three looks like it needs contrast turning up!

I'm leaning toward the center girl... Sorry to hear poser8 takes longer to render... I don't like their poser6 library set up... I wish they would just take the F'n guessing game out of it... you should be able to see what you want and the credit should be easily accessable and viewable... thanks for the picture.

Hmmm, thanks for the effort of the comparison Deane. The girl on the right looks washed out to me so I'm guessing P8 needs things done differently so there may be a learning curve. I haven't learnt P7 yet so think I'll stick with that and Daz3D as I am just starting to figure that cranky baby out now
