Walnut Canyon & Sinagua tribe - part 2 It’s 185 feet down to the point that I took this shot. Thanks to the Park Service for putting in a flight of stairs. You can see the remains of the cliff dwellings better in this shot. This canyon was one of many places that the Sinagua populated from the slopes of the San Francisco Peaks northeast to the Little Colorado River and south to Verde Canyon. Its absolutely amazing how people lived up there. I have seen caves in rocks before on the tv, very high up but don't think they were this high.

Incredible that they carved homes out of the mountains. I read that in some of these kinds of places, they were abandoned so quickly there were still pots and food left behind. I always wonder what happened to make them leave like that.
