Description

THE LORELEI "I don't know what it may signify That I am so sad; There's a tale from ancient times That I can't get out of my mind. Cool is the air in the twilight And quietly flows the Rhine; The mountain glows with a highlight, From the evening sun's last shine." This is an extract from Heinrich Heine's "The Lorelie." In folklore and poetry, Lorelei is a beautiful young mermaid luring shipmen to their fates with her fascinating voice.
