Description
There is an extension of the Vasa museum situated just outside the main building. This has a few other boats and ships of historical interest.
One of the ships is the ice-breaker, Sankt Erik. This ship was built in 1915 and still runs, though is not used for ice-breaking any more.
"Her reciprocating steam engines are the most powerful functioning ones in Sweden." - Picture and text from Wikipedia
This is a detail of the larger of her two engines.
Just outside the ship, they have a spare crank shaft that was delivered with the ship but has never been used. The original is in this photo.
They sure made them to last in those days. :-)
