Behold the Cream Puff
I would like to introduce one of the most decadent pastries in the world. The Wisconsin Cream Puff, found but once a year at the Wisconsin State Fair. People come to the fair knowing they are going to stand in this incredible line for this most delicious, and creamy treat that this person has ever had in her life. For those who have read my post Reflections on the lake, you know I have never had one, but only merely heard of these.
We got up there and purchased our box. Rounded up our small group :( Dave's mom and my son, plus us of coarse) took it out side and found a place to sit. As a severe thunderstorm was brewing over head. There was lots of wild lightning. That's OK Dave found us refuge under a tree. Yes you read that right, UNDER A TREE. I followed enticed by a cream puff and threw caution to the to wind ( it was windy too ). Trust me as safety minded during storms as I am this had to be most enticing. I took pictures for you first, then we passed them out. I sat down and prepared to devour it. I took my first bite and Oh My God!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I gained ten pounds right there, but it was so incredible!
The pastry is so light and airy, the cream is the smoothest, silkiest, and sweetest I have ever tasted in my life.
Caution: May cause side effects: enlarging of the butt, hips, thighs and tummy. Never being able to look at other pastries quite the same way ever again. Obsession to find that recipe, it has to be somewhere on the web right????? May cause uncontrollable drooling upon sight.
Thank you for looking, drooling, and throwing caution to the wind. Knowing your butt may enlarge just from looking.

Yup! I make those, have for years, sometimes I use chocolate creme inside. But whip cream is my fav! Yummy picture Cheri:-)

Here you have it, one of the most self indulgent things one can possibly do. There is almost no food value in these, and probably about a gazillion calories. I actually had to lay on the bed and try to pull my pants up, squirming wildly. I have or should I say had a twenty eight in waist, the pants I was trying to get into are thirty. A shoe horn came in handy, as well as the axle grease I had in the basement. It was hard to breathe or sit comfortably all day, just because I ate one of these things. I can only imagine the destruction of having two would cause. So.....our Cheri claims to be safety minded and thought the tree might not be the best refuge in a thunderstorm!!! If one were to look briefly back in her gallery to the dark swirly cloud she posted, they might have to ask of themselves, why would a safety minded person, be up on a second floor outside porch in the middle of a tornado warning, taking pictures???? I rest my case, besides.....it was much drier under the tree, and the thought of eating a soggy cream puff is just ludicrous.

Honey the tornado sirens weren't really that loud. They were only whispering get in the house crazy lady. Nothing more than that.

Oh yeah, never mind violating one of the first rules of lighting safety: never stand under a tree....just go ahead and pig out on one of these luscious beauties, absorbing every last delicious calorie. Eat enough of them and they can roll you across the field. Anyway, stellar POV and textures in this shot of the decadent cream puff, Cheri!

LOL-you are so funny. And it looks so good although I cut out all processed sugars and white flour, I really miss sweets like this especially ice cream lol. And it has nothing to do with my butt ar hips great pic

OMG!!! I think I put on 40 pounds just looking at this beauty!!! My mouth is watering as I'm typing, LOL..... Perhaps someday my hubby and I shall have to make our way to the Wisconsin State Fair for one of these cream puffs...and to meet the both of you!!!! (my hubby has a gallery here....mrestey. I am merely a spectator, LOL)
