Cassic picture of a rare plane. They should have named it "The stars look down".

. . . and full second panel and dual controls (and a P-51D landing light, probably a largely D wing). . . a true one-of-a-kind. The Spitfire mirror was a very common adaptation on many US aircraft. "The Stars Look Down" [A very good book (1935) and movie (1939)] didn't have a second clamshell canopy but squared off, enlarged rear side windows that were attached with Dzus fasteners (no emergency egress!). No two seat field mod P-51Bs had the rear D windows, not sure why Collings added those. Great photo.
