This is a bit of an update. From humble beginnings my photography is steadily improving.I started out with a Kodak point and shoot camera and progressed to a Sony A-200 Digital SLR camera.Other equipment that i currently have is the following: Tamron 70-300mm lens. what is it. i can tell its a bomber by the doors that are hanging but i'm not familiar with this air frame. great pic though buff626

Thats a neat photo of an UK built Avro Shackleton bomber, I guess the SA airforce must have used them.

Note that the rear prop blades (RH turning) are shorter than the front prop blades (LH turning). The airflow through the second prop was faster than through the first prop so it had higher tip speeds, which need to be subsonic for best performance; so clipping the tips reduced the tip speed. (This is true on the Do335 also, by the way.) These engines (RR Griffons) with the contra-props are sometimes installed on race planes. The Shackleton was developed from the Lancaster. Impressive shot.
