Description

Hi there. Today something very special... We cleaned the little pond in our garden and the next day, after a strong rain, I looked on it to control the water. I saw some waves and as I walked closer I saw this really huge insect (about 40mm) in there. She was flushed in the pond by the rain. I took some kitchen tissue to rescue her and set her into a jar to dry the wings and carry her home to take some shots. Could not set her onto a leaf or something because I was afraid of her escape. ;-) They are harmless for humans and very impressive to see. Wish you all a great weekend and nice weather.

Since it has an Ovipositor, no stinger- so that definately makes handling a bit easier! Quite a humane rescue, although motivated by the ulterior goal of photography! :) hehehe. Nice capture!
