Description

I got the batter swinging at the ball, before the bat split. Actually you can see the bat splitting. It came flying up into the stands. Ry threw his hand up to keep it from hitting his nachos, and deflected the broken bat. It would have hit the woman behind him in the head. She didn't even know it was coming. He also cut his hand, it didn't need stitches but it's going to leave a scar. The little girl, about 7 or 8, in front of us dubbed Ry a hero and was completely smitten with him the rest of the game. Every time she looked back at him she would bat her eyes. It was so cute. It was an exciting game. Even though the the Timber Rattlers lost. I told Auntietk I was going, and she told me to get shots. I had every intention of just dedicating it to her today, but after the bat splitting and Ry saving a woman's head I thought it needed to be dedicated to the hero too. Have a great day/night/evening, or just Sunday. Peace, Cheri

This was another of many firsts for Cheri this summer, hard to believe that she had never attended a baseball game. The Timber Rattlers are the Milwaukee Brewers minor league team, and the stadium in only about 20 minutes away. We had great seats, smack dab between third base and home plate. You can see the bat piece heading our way in this, it looks a bit long, but I think that has more to do with shutter speed, kind of like the long red tailight trails in a night street shot as the cars go by. It wasn't until the broken half crashed into an incredibly fortunate open spot a few rows back, that everyone around us realized what had just happened, and how lucky the woman behind Ry was that he stuck his hand out, even if it was only to protect his beloved nachos. It really could've been ugly!! Incredible shot sweetie, and what ninja like timing to grab this as it happened, WOW!!!! I missed the first pre-season Packer game to go to this, but it was so worth it!!!

Who said baseball wasn't a dangerous game? Just last night one of the LA Dodger pitchers was hit, and hard, on the head by a screaming line drive off the bat of a Arizona Diamondback batter. The ball bounced with such force that it ricocheted all the way into the stands. They had to stop the game, put the unfortunate pitcher on a gurney, and take him to a nearby hospital. Anyway, fine POV and dynamics in this night shot, Cheri.

Wow! What an exciting shot! I can see the ball flying, the bat flying, see the energy in the batter ... fantastic! As you know, I think watching baseball is somewhere just below watching paint dry, but gosh ... still shots are great. You saved me the trouble of sitting through the whole thing, and have brought me the single most exciting moment of the night! Thank you, my dear!

OK, I don't see the ball. This is not surprising, since I could never see it when I reluctantly tried to play softball in school either. You know the story. Way out in right field, and strike, strike, pinch hitter. This is a great capture! You are both stars in my book!

Batman in action! Therewas certainly more than one superhero in this stadium. Great photo and story.
