Description
I saw the new test trailer for Tron 2 the other day. Looks fantastic. I went out and got the original Tron on DVD and watched it...man, that takes me back.
So I got inspired and decided to sit down and see if I could make M4 a Tron-ish looking suit. I've tried making my own textures once or twice, but it's always been a very simple color shift kind of proposal.
This is the first time I actually got out Photoshop and the M4 texture guids and tried to come up with something completely on my own instead of just modifying what someone else has taken the time to make.
I have a new respect for people who make materials. Getting the lines to match/line up across the arm, forearm, and chest was a trick. Same with the hips, and legs.
It took a few hours of playing with guidelines in Photoshop. So this is the final. It was fun. I also fiddled with alphas and transparencies for the first time with the Disc. It's actually a thin cube with some trans and a homemade material mapped to it.

I appreciate it. I've come a little ways since I started a year and a half ago. I tried getting out my old copy of Shade 8 (a modeling program that's compatible with Poser), but the documentation is horrible if you're starting out with no experience, and the online help is non-existent. Plus, the Poser Integration is spotty....sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. This time around it doesn't. Happens to a lot of people and no one knows why. I've loaded it up several times in the last year only to wipe it back off in a few weeks for fiddling and getting nowhere. I was trying to do this from the Shade 8 angle, because it renders really realistically. But I couldn't figure it out. Shade is evil. Evil as hell.
