Description
I hope no one objects to this picture as it tells about this inspiring place.
In Groom, Tx USA, is an inspiring place. If you are traveling west or east on I-40, you will see a 19 story cross on the horizion. It is well worth your time to stop and see this.
It has life size bronze statues of the stations of the cross, the last supper, the curfixion and the tomb.

I would like to see some pics of the cross and accompaniments. As for persons objecting, I really hope that no one would be that way. One of the best parts of being in America is the RIGHT to worship as you wish. I firmly believe that you can have fantastic religious art without having to be part of the religion represented.

There are actual several of these at various locations across the country. We passed one in either Arkansas or Tennessee (or perhaps Virginia, I can't remember now) while driving to Washington D.C. earlier this summer, and i recall seeing one someone in southern Illinois last summer as well. I'm a little torn as to how I feel about these. As a person of the Christian faith I certainly find them inspiring; but as a motorist I find them a potentially dangerous distraction. Indeed, when my family and I visited the one in Pampa back in 2006 while returning from a trip to California we saw what could have been a terribly tragic accident when a driver became so distracted by the sight of the large cross that his pickup truck swerved into path of another vehicle. The other driver managed to react in time to avcoid a collision but it could have been really nasty.

I40 in that area is pretty straight and four lane divided highway, so you do not have to worry about running into on-coming traffic if you spend too much time staring at the cross. The GPS coordinates are 35 degrees 12 minutes 34.88 seconds North 101 degrees 07 minutes 24.51 seconds West.
