Description

I can't find any info about this old ship. I was told by a passer-by that she has been there for years. Nobody visits almost like she was tied up and forgotten. Kind of sad. Thank you for looking, as always any comments or suggestions welcome 8~) ** BEST VIEWED FULLSIZE ** thumb_1933708.jpg

Thank you for sharing this piece of photography. It would be interesting if this ship could tell its history.

Seems she needs some urgent care...we have many old hulks like this tied along our rivers. Just left to rot. Some sink, some break up first, some catch fire and some will break their moorings and end up crashing into bridges and marinas with stormy tides. Love shot of her you got.

Excellent shot. We have an old wooden barge moored up on the Thames in Reading opposite the confluence with the Kennet. It's been there as long as I can remember and, I'm told, was used as a floating barn when it was farm land on that side of the river. The area was rich in gravel and pits were dug there many years ago and the old barge was just left to rot. It's still there but the hull has become holed below the water line and it now rests on the river bed. I'll have to see if I have a decent photo of it and post it here one day. :-)
