Description
What attracts me to working with 3D are the human reflections which often project from the medium. Most times a render looks like what it is, a posed doll. With a background in photography my a-muse-ment is stirred by generating semi-photographic portraits of 3D models; hence the name for this gallery: "Pixels That Look Like Us." It does not always work. I throw away a lot, never even bothering to save off a copy of the render. When it DOES work I am charmed like a little kid at play. This buzz is what keeps me returning to my virtual photo studio. What I set out to do in this instance was create an image that would look like a portrait made during the early decades of the twentieth century. I have always been fascinated by antique studio portraits; they possess a certain magic for me. A life passed long ago looks out across time at us with a vitality that is sometimes stunning and nearly always intriguing. This curious vitality is what I was going for. I tried a few different expressions for this image, they just did not feel right. There is a starched poise to most antique studio portraits; a directness which is documentary rather than emotive. I hope you enjoy. It works for me. Terry

I like this a lot, but had to check out you homepage to understand your meaning, It makes sense to me! I especially like the quote “Who sees the human face correctly: the photographer, the mirror, or the painter?" -Picasso I really like the photo on your home page too, I almost sounds odd, the sign pictures that look like you. This conveys the understanding that while it will look like you, mostly....it might not look exactly like you. With the technology we have today, that statement would be almost laughable, as almost all cameras now days would produce a perfect likeness. I say almost, because I remember my last trip to the DMV to get my drivers license renewed.
