Hello! My name is Jodie. I live in Minnesota where the temps can fluxuate by 20 degrees in one day. Most of my photos have been taken very close to my home, a 10 acre hobby farm., where I raise Alpacas and chickens. I am a band director, a musician/singer and a photographer/adviser on the yearbook committee. My camera of choice is a Nikon. I have a D90 and a D70. I also have a SB800 flash and favorite lens is Nikon 18-200mm AF-S, with VR. Revisiting the visual arts is something I should have done years ago. If I see something remarkable, I just try to capture it. Nobody else will ever see it quite that way again so I hope you try that, too. This is just like expensive therapy for us.  Thank you for visiting and may you have a peaceful day!Â

Another magnificent shot from my home state. Stellar silhouetting style effects in this one, Jodie, which also adds to the blackness of the trees, but someone has got to cut that grass!

it's so nice to see photos like this, because there's a quiet harmony between the elements & because the light interacts so softly. It's why your photographs repay longer viewing, they reveal their inner secrets with time. The light, as in your Minnesota shots, feels breathed-on & gentle; and its intensification at the edge of the grass is beautiful. You get that in some of your shots, "pools" of light somewhere in the center, which often point to a greater source beyond the picture...Your sky & land are (I assume intuitively) divided in equal halves; and the sky itself is divided by blue & white—either cloud & sky or mountains & sky. And the trees' 'play', their vertical dance, is very gentle. A very delicate shot of a very sacred land. (To the Lakota, this was the place where White Buffalo Calf Woman arrived, the great goddess of the Pipe & its ceremonies. She was said to appear & teach there; and her sighting was retold for generations. I'd think her ancestors would find this image beautiful.) Delicate, fine & loving piece of work. (You probably know this, but the most revered site for the pipe stone is in Minnesota. Only Native Americans are allowed to take the stone from the ground. The scientific name is Catlinite. The stone is beautiful when seen in the pipe, which is itself an object of beauty. The ceremony, in legend, originates in the Black Hills...)

What a great road trip you got to take. I had a few of those in earlier years, and they were the best moments of my life. This is an absolutely perfect shot of a little meadow in the woods. The depth of field you achieved is masterful.
