Description

Among the leaves of myrtle in the garden of a friend of mine, I found this nest with three not incubated eggs... my friend said that they are eggs of "verdone", scientific name: Carduelis chloris. But why there is no mother to hatch? The female, according to the tab of this bird, do not abandon the nest for 14 days of hatching, the male who takes care of feeding the companion for the duration of incubation. Perhaps the male is no longer back and the female had to leave the nest to find food? And why also the mother is no longer session? How many questions... to you the answers! I wish you a wonderful weekend! :)

a wonderful photo!!!!!! .....this “drama” I had this year also! A blackbird had already sat on the eggs. But bird parents were unfortunately "driven out" by the neighbour cat..

My first suspect would be a neighbour's cat--or a wild stray. Some hawks could be a problem too.

Fantastic capture, Maria. Amazing light on that image. It shows how good birds are with nest building. They are very skillful weavers. A bit sad with the abandoned eggs.+5
