Description

Another one... I paid for this trek, in more ways than one. I don't walk nearly a much as I do (I used to walk up to ten miles or so, usually daily), so the hike up here and back was a bit more than I expected; after getting back home, I fell asleep and didn't wake up until about 6 hours later. Plus, my shoes aren't really meant for this kind of abuse, so that probably contributed something to my exhaustion in the end. But I did say that I paid in more way than one, didn't I? After taking these shots by the water, I went back to the bridges and took some shots of the grafitti there, turned off the camera and made my way along what used to be the middle of the river, aiming for where I could have probably cleared most of the water if I had a really good running start. Not that I was going to, mind you, I was just aiming to get as close to the other side as I could. So, as I was walking along the rocks, I stepped on a loose one, stumbling a bit. I moved on, then felt a sharp pain in my thigh. I looked down and saw a small cloud of wasps circling around me. Or maybe it was hornets. I don't know, I don't care and I wasn't going to stick around to find out. So, I took off as fast as I could (the only thing that came to my mind at the time - I don't know if that's the right thing to do), potentially breaking a world record in the process. Well, maybe not, but I moved pretty quick. As soon as I was sure they weren't around me anymore, I stopped and checked the damage. Fortunately, it wasn't so bad. A few stings, but no swelling. Since I wasn't wearing shorts, the stingers went through my jeans first, which probably helped. I consider myself lucky that they didn't get a few inches higher or decide to go for my face or exposed arms. It hurt though, and kept hurting for a while. It was then that I decided I was done for the day and started making my way back home. Still no swelling at this point. Too tired to do much of anything, so I hit the couch and only woke up once in the afternoon, and went back to sleep after about ten minutes.

Beside the walk the stings probably help induce such a sleep. I am glad you are ok and were able to share this shot with us. I love the shot, it's great.

Cool shot, but out, I'm glad the stings weren't as bad as they could have been.
