Description
I originally used these 2 Jedi as non-player characters in Star Wars role-play games. Z'Rissa is very much the elegant, straight-laced lightsaber instructor, while her friend Dantris enjoys playing the flirtatious rogue.
I used the Michael 3 & Victoria 3 models and a variety of clothing items including parts of V3 Catsuit, M3 Poet Shirt, M4 Valiant and Fae Realm (all from Daz). The lightsabers are from Dodger's Ultimate Lightsabers prop set, and the desert scene is from FreeNaturePictures.com

This may be a good start for a first image... Here are a few things for ya.. 1. shadows.. and blend them in a bit to try to get rid of that cut and just pasted look to it.. 2. bigger render.. 3. clean up the cutted area around the characters better.. 4. they look frozen in the way they are standing.. Welcome to rosity.. don't be afraid to ask questions and look around in the forums..

I don't want to come off sounding snarky or anything, my views may be a little different, but its because I've known LadyDerini online for many years. I just recently introduced her and family into the Daz Studio world, I'm not finding anything majorly wrong with the pic being a first image and first uploaded render. Daz Studio doesn't catch shadows on background pictures used when theres no ground plane. I also know the image is being rendered on an older system with less ram, so how much figures and props in the scene also has to balance out with how large of a render the machine can handle. They'll get a better rig down the road, and in that time their skills will improve, even possibly trade up to Carrara (which has landscpe generation tools). The important thing for now is getting into the hobby, learning and getting familiar with Daz Studio, and posing / clothing figures first before worrying about ground shadows and matching the lighting. The posing is good though, they're both looking at something out of camera range, and their lightsabers are lit. A+ for effort. Don't give up, and do keep at it. We all have to start somewheres. :)

Not to argue a point, but it's much better than my first render was. It takes time to learn about lighting and adding shadows in photoshop. You're off to a great start. Best advice I have for you, is to hang on to this render and see how much progress you have made with each new one you do. (It always helps me to have a visable progress mark when I get frustrated trying to lean a new trick.)I learn something new with every render I do. The gound is very Tatooine. :)

Sometimes it takes a little courage to post that first picture so that everyone can put in their two cents on it. Congratulations on your first post to the site. Your friend 'Spacer 01' did a great job explaining that to all of us. Please keep on posting, and like 'Rockdog' said, "Welcome to 'Rosity!" Looking forward to seeing your artwork!

I can relate to the fear of posting a first render. This is very good. I use DAZ and it can get intimidating. but stay with it and welcome to Renderosity

Thanks, Mike. My current ambition is to do a new version of this one, from scratch, probably once I learn Carrara.
