Description

I had the opportunity to attend a presentation of old weapons. This is a “Brown Bess” being fired. They were manufactured in Great Britain and were the British Army weapon of choice from 1722 – 1838. Grice manufactured the one being demonstrated, in 1762, which is a smoothbore flintlock. It weighs 10.5 lbs (4.8kg), is 58.5 inches (149cm) long and fired a 19mm lead ball. The triangular cross section bayonet , not attached for this demo, is 17 inches (43cm) long. It was accurate up to 100 yards. The list of countries that preferred this rifle was extensive from America to the Zulu warriors. Dimensions from Wikipedia. Thanks for stopping by, taking a peak and for all your previous comments and favs. Dana
