Description

this is in Athens, Texas and originally was a quarry. in 1981 it was converted into a place for people to scuba dive. the water is very clear.there is an old Clint Eastwood house boat along with a C130 fuselage sunk for people to explore. I think it is being treated with clorine thanks for having a look and any comments

Such a beautiful aqua colour of the water! I've never actually been scuba diving... but I think in this water, I just might give it a go! Lovely capture... most refreshing scene and a delightful atmosphere captured, Richard! Excellent artwork and composition!

A great use for an old quarry and the water does look a different colour but at least the clorine keeps it clear.

Have an abandoned stone quarry near where I live (google France Park, Indiana)...miners struck an underground stream and in a few days the huge hole was filled with pristine,spring fed water. At the bottom of the quarry still sits a train engine and a caboose, among other antiquities. Years later it was opened up as a public beach/swimming hole. After concession stands,campers,scuba divers and countless sunbathers soaked in tanning oil...the water is now a nasty greenish brown hue. Too bad...used to be able to go atop the cliff walls and see clear to the bottom of the water....over 100 ft. deep.
