Description

Must take a break in the landscape images to let you know that I've finally reached my 500th upload after being with the Renderosity community since January of 2003. As always comments are very much appreciated. This is a photo of my daughter, Megan. She just turned 14 and is a blast during a photo shoot. She asked me to take a few pics for her facebook page. It's a wonderful shot of Megan, Jodie—and Mickey!—and a great way to celebrate your 500th. Megan is smiling but wholly natural (something you capture so well from all your portraiture experience); and the b&w brings out her smile & her kind nature in a way that color couldn't top; and the music of the shot is simple & just plain fine portraiture (ie, the sweep from her hair to her arm & into Mickey). And Mickey is placed so nicely & naturally. A very simple but wholly sensitive job. And kudos to Megan to let you post this in front of the world. And kudos to Piet, too, for the beautiful thumbnail—I wanna see it full size!!! You have to know, you still do things with natural light & shadow, natural contrasts, natural blends & atmosphere that distinguish you as one of the subtlest & most sensitive camera artists here. And I've always found your composition to be unerring, your way with action shots to be unreal (I still can't believe some of those theater or sports shots where it looks as if heaven literally stopped time for you, the clarity was so fine), your sense of the 'scene'—ie. knowing which pov captures the essence of the place—to be equally unerring, and I've always found your light to be deep & heartful & beautiful. Those spills of light in the distance, what you do with mists & fogs, your sense of glow inside objects, doors, walls, etc, are just beautiful. I could go on...but this is a great gallery & I'm one of your biggest fans & I hope you post another 2 million. It's great that you posted a picture of one of your beloved children to celebrate this. Congratulations! This was one of my first galleries & it still remains one of my favorites. I wish you many, many more, dear friend!

Oh, I thought that was a picture of you when I first saw it.... Anyway, a well deserved congratulations on reaching the heady pinnacle of 500 fotos, Jodie! Even with all your interruptions, I always knew you could do it. Anyway, great clarity, textures and POV in this b&w of your lovely daughter and handsome puppy!
