Description

Okay, so two cubes, three planes and fifteen deformers later, and the water looks a lot better. No postwork on this, its all modelled and textured to give the effect. Still not 100% happy with it, so it will change some more. Other changes include lighting and some more texture work on Dog Boy. Postwork again limited to picking up dropped pixels.. If anyone else has come across this, is there a solution? Its driving me nuts!

The extra shadows have enhanced the render further. The water/waves looks even better now. Great work

This is a big improvement, you put a lot of work into the water and it really shows, the wave movement is much better and the frothy foam really works. Overall the shadowing makes a big difference but the shadows under dog boy need to be darker to match the shadows on her body. Take your burn brush set at 10% shadows in photoshop and just darken them a bit. Also dog boy seems to be carved out of wood... this could be the original texture of the character but it doesn't really look like fur. Kudo's to you for doing so much of your own texture work. Getting a grasp on the fundamentals will give you so much control as your skills develop.

As far as the dogboy goes, try adding a little bump. For the water, maybe a finer texture and a little bump. You might also try a little reflection, but I'm not familiar enough with DS to know if that would work. Kudos for doing everything yourself rather than taking the easy way out.

I've never run into the dropped pixels. Not yet at least. I do have highlight problems that show up though. This rework is great. The water looks better but I liked the foot splashes in the previous scene better. As suggested DogBoy could use some bump as his "fur" looks like lines on flat skin. Overall a great composition and render.
