Description

With its origins dating back to William the Conqueror (1078), this tower was initially built to protect London. It houses the crown jewels and has been used as a prison, armoury, and place for executions in the past amongst other things. Its right in the middle of London and what I love about it is the constrast of this ancient building against a slew of newly built modern buildings...A must see if ever you visit! Original 4938x1523 Used Sony Cybershot P200, PSPX, and PTGui (7 Photo Stitch) Thanks for viewing, and keep up the good work!

Excellent panorama, I'm very impressed at how well it was all stitched together. I'm also curious, though: There's bleachers to the right of the tower, and it looks like they hold some kind of events and/or demonstrations on the lawn between the fence and the wall of the tower? I'll have to look that up and see what they hold there. Great shots and wonderful job on building this beautiful panorama.

Well spotted! Those are catapaults - sadly at the time they were not demostrating them. Keep up the great works all, many thanks for the encouraging comments.

This brings back memories of the spring of 1973, when I was a wide eyed 16 year old on my first trip overseas. When I wrote about the trip to my sister, I kept saying how everything was so big that I couldn't come close to getting it in one picture. You did so, beautifully here! When I look at it, I get a feeling of what it must have felt like to people when it towered (no pun intended) over them. Even with the modern buildings, the manicured lawn and the jean clad people, it is easy, looking at this image, to see it in a different time. Beautiful detail, color and light! Gorgeous panorama!
