Description

Okay, again, a diversion from the norm, but these were due for a little Spring Cleaning....about four years ago. I found it amazing at just how many bottles of wine I had in those catch alls....yesh! Two bottles, in particular, hold a special significance to me. Yep, you guessed it, the two bottles of Cabernet Sauvingon that are front and center from Concannon Vineyards. These bottles are NOT vintage dated, but are SPECIFICALLY dated with their bottling dates of August 25 & 26, 1976 from a limited bottling of only 22,700 bottles. They are serially numbered (6880 and 6873), and were purchased with two very special events in mind. My Dad bought these when I was little to be opened on two specific occasions - when I got married and on the birth of my first child. Well, as you can see, the bottles are still unopened. Eventually, yes, I do hope to open at least one of them to honour my Dad's desires for them, but for now, they just get the quarter turn every year and...occasionally....dusted (hey, what's a good bottle of old wine without a decent layer of dust on it??). The rest are mainly bottles from vineyards that my Dad and I liked in Morgan Hill, Gilroy, and Paso Robles areas. There are some international ones tossed in there as well, for good measure, from places like Chile, Hungary and West Germany (when there still offically WAS a West Germany). Some, I'm sure, are sill viable after all these years. Others, well, let's just put it this way, when it comes time to open them....I'll either have a really good glass of wine....or a really expensive salad. ~~~~ A bronzed fuzzball to the person who correctly guesses how many bottles of wine are there! (yes that includes the mini-bottle up front there) Photo (c) 2009 Twilight Productions

Well my crystal ball needs a good dusting so can't really make out the number 30ish I suspect. Nice assortment at least to someone like me who knows next to nothing when it comes to wine.

I've had less than a 12 pack of beer for the whole year, but I could gurantee you those bottles would not survive in my home - lol.... get PG already damn, don't you want to drink two bottles at the same time - LOL.... I do hope the bottles get used soon the way they are intended - you hear that Scott - it is Scott, right??? I'm leaving now, before I get in any more trouble = lol

I had a bottle of champagne that was in the house for years and years, It was part of a Christmas basket I won at work, whcih will tell you how long ago that was they do not do that anymore. Heck it has been years since they had amy Christmas party at night. They are all afraid they will get sued. Damn lawyers. Anyway finally got rid of the bottle gave it to the Step son when he got married last month along with other things. Never had much wine, looks good though.

Great shot of the collection, love. All I know about wine is what you've inflicted on me thus far, but again, it looks like a great collection! Got any Eagle Castle bottles in there? chuckles Special note for Mikeerson: I'm working on it!
