Description

This is one of the very few poisonous spiders we have in my area. I found this one in a small open wooden pavilion by my pond. It was missing one leg but that did not appear to be a problem. It certainly scurried away pretty darn quick, lol. The bite of this spider creates a nasty wound that doesn't heal easily and can lead to the loss of a limb or even death in some cases. It is definitely one that should never be handled. Thanks to those who take the time to comment. Lee

Great find. It's worth noting in this tiny six-eyed soul's defense that they do every thing they can to stay AWAY from humans and that not every brown recluse bite results in an ulcerative formation. Still, I wouldn't want to find one under my pillow in the morning! Nice photo.

ewww...we have those too in our area.......keep your distance, I know someone that got bit by one a few years ago, and thank goodness she didn't suffer a long illness from it, caught it in time, but left a nasty scar on her leg! great shot!
