You see a lot of renders here (mine included) that show sexy woman with swords, guns, etc. going off into battle. I decided to show the unglamorous aftermath.
This started out as an experiment in rim lighting. I couldn't quite get the lighting to do what I wanted, so for some reason, I decided to try my hand at IBL. What a difference! I used a panoramic render of the skyline background as my image for the lighting. it looks a lot more "realistic" than my usual images. The next step is to try and get more dramatic lighting, while still maintaining that bit of realism I've discovered.
Edit: I just noticed something funky with the right shoulder. Fixed with a bit of postwork.

Very subtle, nicely composed the back-lighting effect adds atmosphere and drama to the image, a moment of reflection, to consider what she had just done. A quaity piece of work, excellent!
