Description

A year ago, my husband was laid off from his job. He's working now, but it was a very stressful year...and things aren't back to normal yet. We still have an uphill battle keeping the house we bought as newlyweds 20 years ago---a lot of bills are piled up and there are days I don't think we'll ever get through those...but we're still standing. I need to take this opportunity to thank the people here who supported me---either by purchasing my stuff, sending me toys or by being a friend. This image is for all of you. I especially need to thank Lynn & Amy...thank you. I doubt we would have made it this far if you two weren't around... And to everyone else...please be kind. It's a bad situation for SO very many people. If you have a job for someone don't wait for someone to find it, go out and find someone to give it to. Give it to someone that may not be 'completely' qualified, but is hungry, willing to learn and so desperate to work. Give them enough to feed their families...this last year taught me all too well how to rely on the kindness of strangers. We didn't starve, but we did go hungry. If you have a lot of stuff laying around your house collecting dust, get on Freecycle, give it away---this includes food. Reach out to someone in need. You never know what that random act of kindness will bring. Bless all of you this Labor Day... Laura Fabi's amazing Hidden Winds and SedaleSilk for Hidden Winds. Bandua Hair with Toxic Bandua textures by Countess and Silver, background from Sveva's Charmed Woodland, pose by tabala. Character is the lovely Desirae---who is library icons and ads away from being done. C-YA!! Laura

This is so much you - being in touble yourself and thinking on others who share your misery. Very, very true what you write and it's exactly how the system works - this "somebody told me" system that can do more for people than any government. Somebody tells you that thre is a job, you tell someone that someone else is giving away a refrigerator and if you have something to give away: spread the word so that someone can tell someone about it!!

Your work is so beautiful, and full of inspriration, It humbles and inspires me to produce the most beautiful and provocative works that I possibly can. Thank you for all you have given to our little world. I don't have any great words of wisdom, you pretty much covered them. btw, Isolde is quite happily ruling my runtime ;) Dave

There is a quiet bit of peace and hopefulness in this one Laura. Probably coming from the small bit of ease you feel that at least some work has returned to your household. In Florida here, tourism is our mainstay and my area has suffered mightily in this economy. Three pages of classifieds are now down to 3 columns. To further the public announcement..I would offer an expansion to what others have said. In these times...If your situation is steady and not so bad, offer yourself to others for free. Offer to mow that lawn next door when U mow yrs, offer to watch the kids for free that day if U arent busy, offer a trip to pick up her kids when U pick up yrs, or take him to his job if their car is down or cant afford gas and its on your way. Going to the grocery store? Invite your neighbor along if it will help her...U are going there anyway. Thanks Laura...for sharing and for inspiration beyond the art form.

Very beautiful and stunning image...and heartfelt, powerful words. I too, know what it's like to fall on hard times. We've had our rough patches this year, but it hasn't been as bad as past years...and I know that's because the job my hubby has now, so I am thankful for that. Here's to hoping things continue to look up for you and your hubby...and for everyone else as well!

I love this image, as I do all of your work. You are soooo talented!!! Everyday no matter how bad we have it we should remind ourselves there are others that have it far off worse then we do. Working in the home medical department, and being a chemo patient I see this on a daily basis. I am blessed to work for a company who not only works with me but also helps people that walk thru the door. we try everything we can to help people out that can't afford the medical equipment they need. I love the community here at rendo. I wish everyone would just take a moment everyday and stop thinking of themselves and think of others, like our granparents did. Keep looking up, things will get better, slowly but surely. God bless you!!

Hard times all over the world at the moment.. You are such a wonderful person and it's great to know you. My partner has no job at the moment too and I'm the only one earning money at the moment. I'm glad that I'll have a new job from October on, earning a bit more money than now, so life will be a bit more comfortable for us two. Thank you so much for your friendship and all your nice words during my exams for me :) hugs

Thank you Laura for sharing this beautiful image and especially these words with us. It is amazing that even in such hard times you were able to produce such gorgeous images and to keep your creative spirit burning. I curl up into a ball in times like you experience but you have the courage and resiliance to pick up your sword and move on with it. I admire your spirit. Thank you also for opening up your heart to us; it helps me to understand were you are coming from and helps me put my own life into perspective. It is clear that I am not the only one who has been moved by your words and I see how many others of us are going through these hard times. I sincerely hope the best for you; your are a gem in this community and the world. Take care.
