Description
I have this very prickly, not exactly pretty, cactus by my front door that puts out an occasional bloom and has left us wondering on many occasions. You see, we never actually saw the bloom, just this really ugly looking thing that we assumed was a blossom. Well...it turns out that the bloom lasts less than 48 hours - it opens up beautifully at night time and is closed back up tight (and unattractive looking) during the day. Very strange indeed - but we did manage to capture this one shot of the full bloom early one morning. You can see that the bees are enjoying it, too!

Sublimate presentation of a flowering of night. Surely that this cactus protects itself from the too captivating rays of the sun it prefers the night ambient with its deployed richnesses. Cheer and mile mercies to divide ((5++)) Sublime présentation d'une floraison de nuit . Surement que ce cactus se protège des rayons du soleil trop captivants il préfère la nuit ambiantes à ses richesses déployées . Bravo et mile mercis de partager ((5++))

I think all cactus haev this pattern of blooming. Most will open with the daylight and close as the sun goes down. I know of one species of collum cactus that only blooms at night though but I'm sure there are more. Most cactus blooms are very delicate and tender and only last 1-3 days and the night bloomer I mentioned only last through the first night. This is a fabulous shot and you are lucky to have this cactus.
