Description

Make friends with the Shadows. Real life will always be found there within your portraits. The world we move through every day has shadows in it and plenty of them. This is true physically and metaphorically. Include a little darkness into your work and the images will start breathing before your eyes. Don't be afraid of the shadows even if it means subduing a feature you may really adore in your artwork. Shadows are intriguing, they lend character and draw the viewer into a deeper relationship with the subject of an image. But you don't need to take my word for it ... try some yourself! and watch the magic unfold. Interesting lighting is not always about the light. The model in this image is a self crafted V4 character who came into existence last weekend. She likes to be called Natasha and while she's still a little camera shy the camera and this photographer dearly adore her. I'm confident she'll warm up over time and we all shall be seeing much more of her. Enjoy! Would love to see more of Natasha. Is it just me, or does Natasha have Heterochromia? I have a cousin with one brown eye and one hazel eye, and we used to have a pure white cat we named Multi, because he had one blue eye and one green eye. It's a truly amazing and rare trait. And I completely agree with you; the depth and atmosphere, feeling and focus shadows add to any image in any medium of art is absolutely a sultry, enticing rhythm for the eyes to explore, follow and ultimately be pulled deeper into the subject.

First, multi congrats on the nod from Rendo. Your image and words illustrate the principals of 'yin and yang' very well. Dark and light, opposite but complementary and together forming a perfect balance. Superb image, the eyes are positively luminous.
