Description

As I stated before, I will put wings on just about anything, however, I also stated that I would not put wings on a toaster. I was making a reference to an old screen saver for Windows 3 and 3.11 which had flying toasters and therefore I felt it was unnecessary to put wings on any appliance, let alone a toaster. However, it appears that a lot of people have forgotten that old screen saver, if they even had a 286 or 386 with a whopping 16 megs of ram and a massive 250 meg hard drive and an 8-bit SVGA video card with jumpers... and everything was actually command-line driven - remember format C:/u/s ? Just to save myself from any grief from the TADL, I went ahead and put wings on a toaster and set it flying. Zlata appears just a bit unimpressed with the scene as the toaster flies overhead. She has let me know, in no uncertain terms that, 1 it is okay to put wings on animals like Mice and Elephants, that to her is perfectly acceptable, 2, it is even okay to put wings on robots, they serve a function. However, she has drawn the line and said that, "Enough is enough!" Flying toasters are passe and no more appliances will have wings. Thank you for all the wonderful comments. As to the question of putting wings on trees, Don't tell Zlata, but as soon as I can afford to download the Ents, or their likeness, they may, mid you, may get wings. But as I understand it, they want to stay true to their roots and may actually resist any effort by me to put wings on them. We'll see. I hope that everyone has a great Friday! and a moment of silence for those lost on 9-11. Thank you

the first i learned the command line and working with norton commander to squeeze all out of the configuration. fumbled in autexec.bat and config.sys . Dos=high, umb set sound..... devicehigh and the lot. brings back memories, played doom 2 with 4mb ram and had to make multiple .bat's to start the games. dos 6.22 and win 3.1 was kind of fun.

Yes I remeber thos days and got the reference in fact I remeber the L8088, and before that my atari with 32k memory. When I think back my old 386 with a shell that acted like windows actually ran as good or better that vista does now. It certainly was as fast, of course the prgrams were much samll and frankly better written. I remember when I first started to get ticked at microsofe when I had to buy a 3rd party memory manager for the windows 3.11. Gee I guees that makes me old and I giess you too. Really a good picture.

ROFLMHO! Now this is just too good to not FAVE! I admit I was one of those who was apparently wrongfully deprived of said screensaver - having I assure you not seen it - though I can trace my computer user days back to Atari and having to program in basic. And while Zlata is no doubt right, being so (best not say old as I don't want to incur her wrath having already pressed the issue with previous suggestion of toasters with no wings unite) sage and wise (should do). Where was I - I am getting as bad at you at rambling on, only you manage to make sense and keep it interesting. Yes, toasters should not have wings. It is agreed. But if they did have wings, they should look just like this as this is a very handsomely winged toaster that I suspect any piece of bread would be honored to bask to a nice golden brown in its warm glow. So, now, what about coffee pots. Is that an applicance? More like a functional necessity, particularly in the morning, for some of us. Though I dread the thought of having to chase mine all over the room for that first shot of java as it flutters about playing keep away. I suspect a flyswatter of sorts would soon be pressed into use. And that would probably get me in trouble with UL. Perhaps a short cord is the solution then it could flutter about but not really have to be chased down. :O)

Me for one, think that flying toaster looks kind of cool. I still have my old Vic 20,Commodore 64, sittingon the shelf.. Nothing like bringing back memories of the good old days. Hee!Hee!. Zlata is one of these new lids that doesn't understand computer nostalgia. Nice job Mike.

Cool image, I remember the toasters. But you are a rookie. My first was an IBM PC Peanut with an enormous 125 KILOBYTE hard drive, Windows 2.0 (God I am sooo old).

So if a toaster can fly...does that mean its "Wind Powered" and we don't need to plug it in any more to work? Humm. Stick some wings on a few other appliances and send them my way please:-) I had a feeling you were going to come up with this one sometime soon, lol excellent Mike!
