Description

Many of the nooks and crannies in the mesa have little sand dunes. Areas where the wind has swept up the crumbling sandstone and deposits it into a dune. In this foreground the dunes have some vegetation taking advantage of its lose granular compisition. Lovely image! The wind blown little sand dunes remind me of something that happens at Enchanted Rock State Natural Area in Texas. It is a huge pink granite batholith, and on the sides of it and on the top of the boulders all over it are tiny granite stones. They have been crumbled by the elements. They make climbing up and especially down, a little tricky in places.
