Another Mendocino wildflower. I have no idea what it is but I do like purple.

I remember flowers that grew along the right-of-way, that we called wild irises, that looked like this. They looked like irises but were much smaller. We used to walk along that right-of-way saying, "Hello snakes! Just two harmless little girls! Don't mind us!" But I digress. This is a beautiful image! The color of the flower is so rich and deep. The detail and dof are great too!

That's a great macro close-up, Mark; right into the field of focus and no further. This would make a wonderful print. I'm sure it would be a fine seller if you ever marketed it. I'm not sure either but yes, I think they might be in the Iris family. What is always a marvel to me with a flower such as this is the intricate detail within the petals. It is as if somebody with really tiny hands, I mean really tiny hands ... like fairy hands, went inside and painstakingly painted each petal. There's even a watercolor blend where the purple meeets the white that could only have been accomplished by an artist. Nature must employ a vast army of apprentices to get this job done every day. Regarding yesterday's image, Mark; I posted the photo which you inspired me to go root out and scan. It waits for you here. Terry
