I am 58 years young, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a true product of my continent. I love the bush, the animals, sunshine, sunsets - oh well, anything to do with nature. I am unmarried and have three sons - 37, 33 and 30 respectively and three granddaugters aged 12, 6 and 4 respectively and obviously the light of my life! Photography has always been a passion and I have loved it since I can remember. I was still using a SLR camera and only switched to digital only in late 2007! My other passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have travelled fairly widely. There are however still many, many places I would love to visit "one day." I am truly an amateur photographer and do it merely as a hobby. So please be gentle when you comment on my work. :-) Thank you Piet, my dear friend, for convincing me to place my work on Renderosity. You owe me one! Hugs, Carin xx

wonderful capture Carin.

a beautiful image, Carin, it looks almost like a dried up lake-bed, and the textures & hue variations make it almost an abstract...except that it's a full bodied desert with all its variations & vastness. I read "The Prophet" years ago though I barely remember much of it; but it's amazing that you chose this image to capture the passage, because you've chosen a germinal open space to evoke the place that love begins, rather than the usual lush gardens or forests or seas. Beautiful evocation of your title, and a truly primal image to go with it. (In chicago we don't see landscapes like this—makes one long to be there!)

I knew that was the Prophet the minute I saw those words--wow!! What a stunning image and absolutely perfect. I've only recently reread Gibran; he is timeless and I love everything he's written. Thank you for this wonderful image!!

Wow, are those dead leaves in the foreground and stretching out to infinity? With the wonderful POV, DOF, and expertly focused ground and cloud effects, this falls under the rare category of ultra stellar, Carin!

Dankie vir hierdie, Dierbaar. Perhaps it's time for me to go back and read Gibran again -- it's been years. Die Namib praat met my op maniere wat ek nie kan beskryf nie, en alhoewel ek nog nooit wou die woestyn, is daar iets oor hierdie plek ... Beautiful photography, and the text you've set it against is perfect for the image. Gorgeous work! The whole thing just sings.

Ah Love, tis the greatest of joys yet the greatest of disasters. It can fill your heart then empty it. It can be the greatest of highs yet the lowest of lows and we still we come back for more. " The gods must be crazy" :)
