I am a developing artist working on improving my abilities to create beautiful digital landscape compositions. Without the help and suggestions of the many fellow artists in this community, it would be a long time before I reach the next level.
BIO
I am a retired procurement professional who has long had an interest in photography and painting; and, lately in computers and photorealistic natural landscapes. I hope to become more proficient and perfect my abilities to produce acceptable work. My experience in art started at a very early age when I would spend many hours sketching and painting. I had instruction at The Art Institute in Chicago, Illinois. I did some freelance work for Flying Models, Model Airplane News and Top Flite Models creating plans and illustrative construction sequences for magazines and kit models. I had spent more than 20 years designing, building and flying radio controlled model airplanes...a very rewarding hobby for me. During the 1970s, I spent 11 years in the hobby of "bonsai"; the Japanese art of miniature trees. In my first 7 tree entry in a contest, all 7 trees were awarded ribbons in various categories. Japanese landscaping became a passion for me where I completed a 3 year project creating a Japanese landscape around my home in Oak Forest, Illinois. I also did this work for several other people in our community. In 1987 I moved to Phoenix, Arizona where I currently make my home. The love of the American southwest and all its beauty is where I wanted to spend the rest of my life. Now that we have computers, digital cameras; and, Terragen; I'll have enough to do for a long, long time.

We hope so! I love this parched, dusty landscape. Nicely done foreground- so realistic..and the low mountain in the distance seems perfect. Wonderful clouds and light/shadows. Yes, I think they hold water. Excellent work, Bob.

Another excellent render. It sure could use a quail or two.. :O) Texture is very well done.

Good dusty ground. FrankB's Hero rock is fantastic, and I like your "friend's" leafless bush. A wee bit of graininess in the clouds/atmosphere.

I'll second that on the cloud sharpness, other than that, Bob, picture perfect!

Looking great, Bob! I'd only suggest introduce some varied colors to the smaller stones. Wish I could send you some of the rain and cooler temps we've had here the last week!

This is the kind of image I like to just stare at- it's in the power of space. Here is a scene that perfectly illustrates the vastness of the earth and sky. The shadow in the distance almost covers an entire mountain- that's big. While others might want more "stuff" in it, I love the breathing space. When I lived in Kansas, I think I was the only person who liked driving through it. Crits? Throw a scorpion in it for fun. Great one Bob!

Amazing Render....!!!
ppetersen
Bob, perfect. From the dusty feel of the terrain and the slight haze. The 'leafless' bushes add to that feel. Excellent POV, gigunda clouds (gotta be some rain in them) and a great surface...

The setup in this is really nice and those rocks made it very believable!!! If it's rain you want we have had 5 inches in 2 1/2 days with over 3 more expected by weeks end,...............want some???

Here's a critique for ya Hoover man...you still suck...LOL! Stop making us new TG2 users look so bad....make a bad image or two...this image....ahhhh...can't say anything bad about it...darn it!

@ Markal: I'm reworking the image. Need better stones/rocks displaying their colors; also, a better grass population; a different cloud seed; and, an altitude adjustment of the sun. Tweak, tweak and more tweaks ...till I'm never satisfied.

Stunning, Bob. Just masterful use of all materials. And lovely, to boot.

another gorgeous render with less details on the ground to bring out the moody shadows! ;o)

Bob, this is awesome. Wonderful work!
