Description

Well I have seen a number of great images recently that showed various water birds by members such as Daver2112, MrsLubner, GBCalls, and durleybeachbum - just to mention a few. I just recently got my first shot of a Green Heron which I posted and here is a new one for me. This is an immature "Little Blue Heron". It is almost 3' tall with a 4' wingspan. The mature ones are a gray-blue color and about the same size. I saw him when he was about 200' away from me and I managed to get within about 100' before he flew. Luckily, he made a circle and landed in a different spot that was only about 50' away. I was surprised because they seldom do this. I managed to get a couple of shots. This is the best one by far. I think the Red-eared turtle in the shot was a bit surprised also. She definitely has her eye on the Heron who landed so close to her, lol. Thanks to those who take the time to comment. Lee

Excellent photo Lee! For distant photos I got a Bower 2X to go between the camera and lens. I just seldom have time to add it as most of my photos are quick from sight to acquisition. Your patience will be your reward. I am sure we will see more bird photos from you soon.

Oh, Lee! This is great. I love seeing the interaction of wild creatures and, you may know, the red-earred slider is one of my favorites so any time you pair with with a water fowl, I get goose-bumps. :-) Stunning shot!
