Description

Yet another digifiddled (thanks Andrea for the word) airplane from the US Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio. Some time during the late 1960s, the Air Force placed a requirement for a "counterinsurgency aircraft". This is a one of only four built(hence experimental) from Piper Aircraft Company (yes they made Piper Cubs too). This looks like a P-51 Mustang with a turboprop (jet) engine but it is an airplane built from scratch and labeled as a "PA-48 Enforcer". The PA stands for Piper Aircraft. I am 99% sure Piper must have paid to use the original North American P-51 plans to build this "new plane". Obviously I had fun with this image turning it into something semi-mysterious by blackening the background and applying a filter or two. Bill:)

I love it! The air take area looks like a happy porpoise sometimes (flips in and out of perception)

Great filter work, but could we see a regular view of this plane? Wiki's photos are small.

Bill you're on glideslope, just a little left of course. The original aicraft was built by an outfit by the name of Cavalier. They develeoped the original concept using a Rolls Royce engine. Nobody was interested (IE the USAF) because Cavalier didn't have the "clout". They folded and Piper bought the rights. With a different engine it was tested by the USAF but still never sold. If'n I remember correctly! I do remember the tests though, early seventies! Oh yeah. Neat picture!

A new one on me! I didn't know Piper went in for this technology. Love the propeller blades and spinner. Glowing edges filter used on this image? Not sure about which grainy filter you used. And, haven't seen you around my gallery over the past few days.

I love your experimenting, it gives a great effect. That's a great word, 'digifiddled', it really says a lot.

Very cool! The grainy texture plus the black background give it a little bit of the comic book feel.

I love it when you do the filter thing with your plane shots. You grab my attention with these in a way a straight photograph of a plane doesn't!
