Description
The Y fighter is now converted into vue and obj. The 3ds version has some problems on import, the error is caused by too many verticles according to the forum, it could also be that im using max 8, may work better with 9 or 10. Anyway I will include the max scene file which is fine.
The Starfighter model Y is the CDF newest fighter craft. Becuase of its Y shape design the CDF has had to construct special fighter bays where the fighter can dock safely and quickly. These have ben retrofitted to most of the carriers and nearly half of the cruisers, destroyers and battleships.
The Y fighter has 3 rear thrusters and 3 front thrusters which give it the agility to move throughout space very quickly and give the craft the edge in manueverabilty compared to most other fighters. The fighter can come to a dead stop almost instantaniousley and can also flip round 180 degrees whilst still moving giving the pilot the chance to quickly target a craft attacking from the rear of the fighter. This fighter brings an end to the word "dog fight" As the player could flip the fighter round end engage its reverse thrusters giving it the freedom to dog fight whilst in reverese. This also makes these fighters great in large numbers against bigger craft. With most fighters the pilot has a few seconds to place a few well targeteted hits at the vessel and then must come back around for another pass. With the Starfighter Type Y the pilot can flip his fighter round as he passes the vessel to enable him to keep on pounding the vessel as he sees fit. The CDF Starfighter - Type Y is armed with 3 twin plasma cannons, in large numbers these fighters can take down capital ships quite quickly.
The animaton is on youtube and will soon be available in my fre stuff under animations.
