i'm finally getting to your gallery, but please know that I haven't gotten to most galleries, i've been gone so much this fall. And it's late now, so I'll start tonight & pick it up again tomorrow. I wanted to start with this because it reminds me of several things: One, that I cannot draw/paint animals anywhere near the way you do. Not only for your sense of detail & the precision with which you execute it, but for the rivering flows of energy that you capture, the horses being as much made of energies as of flesh etc. Next, your vibrant use of hues: a very fine use of slates & purples & bluish tones in the left-most horse, as well as your characteristic white highlights, another art you master so well. And then because the two horses meet in such musical fashion, the angle of their meeting delineated by the different angles of their manes: a genuine piece of music. And I love the feathers in the back horse's mane. Then, the horses are coming through a great drum (a great spirit drum); and as you often do, you've melded galaxies & lights into it and surrounded it by beautiful tactile skies & undulating clouds: merging material with light, material with spirit. Also, the light-burst above the right-most horse is beautiful, as is the light in the lower half of the painting; and the detailing of the feathers at bottom. These are portraits, yet they're captures of the spirit world, because the animals are in the act of stretching out with their spirit & soul. Fine work, awesome motion & energies, and (as always) a gentle sweetness-of-heart permeating it all, which is never absent in your work, no matter how energetic it gets. I'll be back in a day or two but I didn't want to end this long-overdue return to RR without coming to your gallery once more. You serve animal spirits well. And your pieces ripple with inner as well as outer light. Beautiful.
