Description
The sign at my local fire station. The national zoo in Washington, D.C. where I grew up houses the real life Smokey. He was always my first stop at the zoo. Funny how I never noticed that the zoo bear did not speak.

I remember Smokey the Bear and his story. Probably why I worked back in 1978 for the USFS. Great find!

I was a member of the Smokey fan club as a child. I had the book about him and got the membership card and button. He was every kid's hero back then. Fabulous shot of this sign.
