Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

I think I like this too. Looks almost like he is pointing at a picture instead of the real deal. Nice work and idea. Aloha

Cool. Of course, I'm not looking at the hand...I'm trying to figure out what Chip is pointing at. Mission impossible:) Safe to assume you standing on a pier?

Chip was awesome, he pointed out so many things we would have missed because there was sooo much to see. Great capture of Chip being tour guide!

I think he just dented that building in front of his finger!
anahata.c
yes, a great shot of Chip's finger, lined up perfectly with the dent in that building (I don't remember the name of that building, but it's famous). And Chip's finger is as eloquent as his imagination & presence, and yes he will point out things most of us will miss. A funny & really good shot, and I love how you retained the focus in the buildings but not in the hand: It makes it look like he's pointing to a spot on a photograph. If you're interested, you're looking, here, at the edge of the Loop (right) and the expanse into Near North/North Michigan Avenue (where you were staying, left). And across a harbor I assume & on Saturday's walk. (I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure of that.) Your & Tara's interactions with Chip were wonderful: I can see that you go back with him, and I could see how much you love & appreciate him. This finger is somehow him! Fine portrait, and you didn't even capture his face!

WOW! I remember pointing...I think at Columbia College or some place on Michigan Avenue. At any rate, this is a wonderful photograph and it shows a different perspective of me...one I seldom get to see, and I'm surprised at how bendy my finger is! Makes me think I might be double jointed or something. I love the way you caught the buildings in the background, they're so sharp and it looks like they're reflecting blue from the lake. This is a great shot.

Hey, I know this finger, and this hand! I've been watching it point out cool and interesting things for over 10 years now. This is something it really likes to do and I think it has a mind of it's own! Very cool on the fly shot that not only captures the " pressence " of the hand, but the majesty of the Chicago sky line as well. I love how his finger seems to be trying to slot into the top of the building ( can't remember the name of the thing but it has some strange double-pronged corporate name with both words starting with the letter 'M'0 loke he's pushing some giant magic button. Great shot!
