Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Great job Marilyn. Reading your words transports me straight to the streets of Chicago. Your recipe above as I read it: Take eight people, mix them together in a large bowl...er, Chicago, add good weather, combine with Middle Eastern food, toss, and serve on a bed of lettuce. Serves all of us who read and view here:-)

No, I won't forget these faces. I may have them by memory by now. Quiz me! lol. Looks great Marilyn! What glorious weather you had with the wonderful companions nearby. Very nice to see it.

Except for the Middle Eastern food, I'm jealous.

It was an incredibly special day, and one I'll never forget, so much laughter, banter and play with friends I never had met. The time flew by so quickly, and then it was time to go, to say goodbye became hard to do with those I just got to know. I didn't want this day to end, so much magic in the air. To have spent the day with people like this for me has been so rare. We hugged one last time, and then parted ways, we had a long drive yet to do. The occasion was brief, yet so wondrous too, and I am so grateful for having met you

This was such a cool and magical day. It was not like we were strangers one bit. It was as if we had know each other all our lives. I didn't want the day to end but it is such a long drive back home. Next time we either stay around there or invade my poor daughter who only lives an hour away. She said oh mom I wanted to come and meet your friends. they all sound so cool. I told her they are and next time for sure. Great poem Marilyn you nailed the feeling I am sure shared by all there that day, and we shall ever remain friends.

I can't begin to express what a good time I had! What a phenomenal trip that was. There were no strangers in our gathering ... only good friends meeting in person for the first time.

just wonderful Marilyn, and your photo is beautiful! The poem is simple and to the point as you always do so well, and you captured the simple interactions & moments in your usual little gems of thought & word. You know, I wonder how people feel as they see these uploads and see us all gushing and smiling about it. The thing is, it's real—it was a terrific few days. Maybe it'll inspire other Rosity-ites to do the same: It really is family...Also, to get 'technical', the poem has some of your features as a writer, your use of one word lines, your use of alliteration at beginnings of lines (Stared/Stopped...Who we were/What we did/Where we lived), and your sense of pacing in breaths & little moments. As always, personal & heart to heart; and the photo—I remember when you set it up & ran over to get into it—is beautiful. I did it again, I covered all the Marilyn shots I missed (well, at least the Chicago ones), and I walk away uplifted. Wonderful. I look forward to more; and a great celebration of our time together.

Very sincinctly written. Sounds like it needs to be an annual event, at least. : )

I like this, because it fits those days! I remember all of the laughing and those "WOW, we are all here" moments. I especially remember the talking (about EVERYTHING) and that whole feeling that I was somehow transported back to Prague, even though everyone was speaking English without rakish Czech accents. It was so much fun and I'll definitely remember all of what happened and all that we talked (and laughed) about! I'll especially remember sharing food! That's so cool...I usually eat alone, but sharing a meal (going back to a favorite restaurant with a cute long-haired waiter) is always nicest with friends and those people who become extended family in a sense! Beautifully written and I love the group shot...the Unusual Suspects! Superb!
