Description

The Dornier Do24 was originally designed in the '30s for Dutch Naval operations in the East Indies. The proto-type (X-1) was destroyed along with four other Do 24s, 8 Dutch, British and American Catalinas and 2 Australian Short C-class at Broome in Western Australia in a strafing attack by 9 "Zeros" on March 3rd 1942. The X-4 depicted here was lost in an accident before the outbreak of the Pacific war. The Dornier model is originally from 3DVia (Smike). Its a low poly model with a Luftwaffe texture, but Bryce does a reasonable job of smoothing it. I've made the Netherlands Marine-Luchtvaartdienst camo texture. I gave up trying to make the Bryce water photorealistic and opted instead for something more atmospheric to work with the sweep of the Dornier's tail.
