Description

Butterflies have always hated me. Whenever I showed up with a camera, the little buggers would fly away. While hiking the Fern Canyon Trail in Russian Gulch I encountered many of them but the result was always the same. One in particular kept provoking me. It would land on a flower and wait for me to focus my camera and, as I was about to push the shutter button it would fly away. I chased it for a half a mile. I swear it was playing with me. Apparently it finally took pity on me and I was able to get this one shot.

And it looks like it landed on some "Forget-Me-Nots" I had a butterfly sit still a long time for me once. I think it was dead. :) Great composition and capture of the little blighter!

That story would make a good movie. I visions of you tromping through the countryside with a butterfly net and camera around your neck. Well it all ended with a gorgeous shot! Well done and well worth the effort I'd say. You're a trooper.
